BIO

Jason Soltero is a Los Angeles native with a background in Landscape Architecture and design. This education continues to inform his work and can be seen in his observation and articulation of the patterns and natural phenomenon that inspire him.

His studio has come a long way from their humble beginnings in the small and isolated communal yard behind his previous apartment complex. Now working from a home studio, he can be found moving between multiple pieces at various stages of inspiration.

In early 2016, Jason was selected to be part of the Great Streets Initiative by the City of Los Angeles. The goal of the initiative is to beautify and to strengthen community identity along major streets by contracting with local artists to transform the ubiquitous utility boxes into unique works of art. Jason was commissioned to beautify three of these boxes, all three along Walgrove Avenue, which is the divide between the neighborhoods of Venice and Mar Vista.

Soltero's work has also been comissioned for private homes in London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

ARCOIRIS, Spanish for rainbow, is the latest series in his evolving body of work. Arcing bands of color emerge, collide, and are consumed once again by the canvas. These dreamy works lift the spirit and invite the viewer to ponder what lies at the other end of the rainbow.
