by Francesca Bifulco
Acrylic on Wood Panel
30 x 60 inches / 76 x 152 cm
Although this may look like a pencil sketch or even an image created with night vision goggles, this piece is in fact the culmination of many tiny red acrylic strokes. Bifulco’s masterful attention to detail allows her to, in impressionistic fashion, use these simple, yet powerful, strokes of red to create meaningful scenes with depth, movement, perspective, and character. And, although the image is in fact not the work of some PI or spy, a voyeuristic identity is given to the viewer. The piece’s title begs the question: are the subjects foragers, or is the voyeur hunting and gathering?
